BOISE, Idaho – Boise State redshirt senior safety Darian Thompson was named to Phil Steele's All-America Second Team Thursday, earning his fourth All-America nod of 2015.

Over the last seven days Thompson has also been honored by Sports Illustrated (All-America honorable mention), the Associated Press (Third Team) and the FWAA (Second Team). He now has five All-America nods in his career after being named to CBSSports.com’s All-America Second Team in 2014.

Thompson leads the Broncos with five interceptions in 2015, a figure that ranks tied for 17th in the FBS, four behind national leader Shawun Lurry of Northern Illinois. It is also tied for third in the Mountain West. On Oct. 31 at UNLV, Thompson picked off his fifth pass of the season and 19th of his career, passing Eric Weddle as the Mountain West’s all-time leader.

Thompson’s impact for the Bronco defense has also been felt at the line of scrimmage. This year the Lancaster, Calif. native is second on the team with 63 tackles (team-high 35 solo) and tied for third with 7.5 tackles-for-loss.

Despite missing Boise State’s final two games due to injury, Thompson was still named to the All-Mountain West First Team for a second-consecutive season.

PhilSteele.com also released its 2015 all-conference teams Thursday, with 11 Broncos being tabbed. Eight Broncos were named to the first teams, as freshman quarterback Brett Rypien, redshirt senior center Marcus Henry, redshirt senior offensive tackle Rees Odhiambo and junior wide receiver Thomas Sperbeck were on the offensive first team, Thompson, junior STUD end Kamalei Correa, and senior cornerback Donte Deayon represented Boise State on the defensive first team and redshirt junior kicker Tyler Rausa was named to the special teams first team

Sophomore running back Jeremy McNichols and junior linebacker Tanner Vallejo were named to the offensive and defensive second teams, respectively, while redshirt sophomore tight end Jake Roh was named to the offensive third team.

Boise State returns to action Dec. 23 at the Poinsettia Bowl, where the Broncos (8-4) will face Northern Illinois (8-5) at 2:30 p.m. MT at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego.
