Broncos Accept Bid to Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl

BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State football team has accepted an invitation to play in the 2013 Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl in Honolulu, Director of Athletics Mark Coyle announced Sunday.

Boise State will square off against Oregon State of the Pac-12 in a game scheduled for Dec. 24. Kickoff between the Broncos and Beavers is set for 6 p.m. MT (3 p.m. HT) at Aloha Stadium, and the game will be nationally-televised by ESPN.

"I would like to thank the officials at the Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl, ESPN and the Mountain West Conference for this opportunity to play in one of the top postseason settings in college football," Coyle said. "We are excited for this year's Bronco team, and especially for our senior class."

Fans can also call the Athletic Ticket Office at (208) 426-4737. Tickets start at $51, and ticket office phones will be open today (Sunday) from 3-6 p.m. The ticket office is also open Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Boise State (8-4) will be making its 12th-straight bowl appearance, tied for the seventh-longest active streak in the country, and its 14th appearance in the last 15 years. The Broncos will also be making their second appearance in the Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl, having also played in the game in 2007.

Oregon State (6-6) will be making its second-straight bowl appearance, and its first in the Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl. The Beavers have played in bowl games in nine of the last 12 years.

The Broncos and Beavers have previously met seven times, with Oregon State holding a 4-3 advantage in the series. The Broncos have won each of the last two games against the Beavers, including a 37-24 victory in Boise, Sept. 25, 2010.

This is the first time the schools have met in a bowl game.

The Boise State men's basketball team will be playing in the 2013 Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic, also in Honolulu , Dec. 22, 23 and 25. The Broncos will open the tournament against Hawai'i Dec. 22 at 8 p.m. locally, and are also joined in the field by Akron, George Mason, Iowa State, Oregon State, Saint Mary's and South Carolina.

Boise State's second game will be against either Saint Mary's or South Carolina.
