BRONCO BOWL HISTORY

Did you know that each of the past five bowl games involving Boise State have come down to the last play of the game?  There is no question, the Broncos are one of the most exciting and eventful teams during the college football bowl season.

The dramatic finishes started in 2003 as TCU missed a field goal in the closing seconds that would have tied the game, and carried through the 2007 Hawai’i Bowl as Boise State tied East Carolina with a fumble recovery and defensive score with just over a minute to play, only to see the Pirates kick a game winning field goal on the last play of the game.

The 2008 season will mark Boise State’s ninth bowl game since joining the Division I-A ranks in 1996 (now known as FBS).  It will also mark the seventh straight season in which the Broncos have appeared in a bowl game.

Boise State’s first appearance came in 1999, when the Broncos won the Big West Conference and met Louisville in the Humanitarian Bowl.  Without a doubt, the Broncos biggest bowl win came on January 1, 2007, with the eyes of the nation watching the incredible 43-42 overtime win over Oklahoma in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.  In all, Boise State has appeared in a different bowl game in each of the past six years, matching up against opponents from the Big 12, ACC and Conference USA.
