BOISE, IdahoThe Boise State University Department of Athletics in conjunction with numerous other Ada and Canyon County organizations will be joining a nation wide effort to bring the “Lift Up America” campaign to the Treasure Valley for the second year in a row. Organizations supporting Lift Up America currently include ten NFL teams, four NBA teams, two NHL teams, and eight universities all working together to provide compassion for the less fortunate.

The Treasure Valley “Lift Up America” campaign will take place on Tuesday, December 5th when 30,000 pounds of Tyson Chicken product, 3,500 Ty Teddy Bears and Beanie Babies, and 3,000 Interstate Batteries will be delivered to Bronco Stadium for distribution throughout the Treasure Valley.  Through the coordinated effort of Boise State University, The Salvation Army, The Idaho Food Bank, Boise Rescue Mission, and the Toys for Tots program, the Tyson Chicken products, Ty Teddy Bears, and Interstate Batteries will be distributed to thousands of less fortunate families throughout the Treasure Valley during the holiday season.

On December 5th at Noon, a brief press conference will be held in the East parking lot at Bronco Stadium featuring Bronco Athletics, Lift Up America, Tyson Chicken, and Idaho Food Bank representatives.  Following the media event at 12:15 p.m., Boise State student-athletes will be joined by other agency workers and representatives in helping to distribute and load the donated Tyson Chicken, Ty Teddy Bears, and Interstate Batteries.  This event will take place in the east side parking lot of Bronco Stadium adjacent to Broadway Avenue.  From there, the product will be used in preparing community meals and delivering meal boxes and gifts to families in need.

Lift Up America is a non-profit organization partnering with business leaders, pro sports owners, and athletic directors developing creative ways to provide compassionate aid throughout America.  Tyson Food, Give the Gift of Sight with LensCrafters and Pearle Vision, Interstate Batteries, and Ty Inc. are currently the key sponsors of the December 2006 event.   More than two dozen cities will serve as distribution hubs the week of December 3, with over 30 professional and university sports teams and more than 700 compassionate organizations working together to lift up America.
