Ajayi Earns Third MW Weekly Honor
Dec. 1, 2014

BOISE, Idaho - For the third time this season, Boise State running back Jay Ajayi has been named the Mountain West's Offensive Player of the Week.

Ajayi previously earned the honor twice in September (Sept. 8, Sept. 21), and is the first Bronco to earn three weekly conference honors in a season since Kellen Moore was recognized four times in 2011.

Boise State has now earned nine weekly MW honors this season, paced by Ajayi's three. Quarterback Grant Hedrick has also earned an offensive honor, while cornerback/punt returner Donte Deayon has earned both a defensive and special-teams honor, stud end Kamalei Correa has been recognized on defense and Dan Goodale and Chris Santini have each claimed a special-teams award.

Ajayi set career highs with 229 yards on the ground and five rushing touchdowns, including a 62-yard dash for a score, in Saturday night's 50-19 win over Utah State. His 229 rushing yards marked the fifth-best single-game performance in Bronco history while his five touchdowns on the ground matched the single-game school record shared by Ian Johnson (2006) and Jon Helmandollar (2004). The Plano, Texas native also carried 27 times, upping his season total to a school-record 303 rushing attempts.

It was Ajayi's third-career performance of 200-or-more yards rushing, second-best in school history, and marked his seventh-straight 100-yard performance and ninth overall this year, the latter tying Ian Johnson's 2006 school record.

Ajayi and the Broncos host Fresno State in the Sports Authority Mountain West Football Championship this Saturday at Albertsons Stadium. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on CBS.
