Sperbeck Claims MW Player Of The Week
Nov. 16, 2015

BOISE, Idaho -- Boise State wide receiver Thomas Sperbeck was named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday morning.

It is Sperbeck's first such honor, and the second offensive honor for the Broncos this season (Jeremy McNichols, Sept. 21).

Sperbeck had the best game by a Boise State pass-catcher in Saturday night's 31-24 loss to New Mexico, setting school single-game records in receptions (20) and receiving yards (281), with the 20 catches also establishing a Mountain West single-game benchmark.

Sperbeck's 20 catches and 281 receiving yards are each the highest outputs by a FBS receiver in 2015. The previous best for receptions had been 18 by TCU's Josh Doctson on Sept. 26 against Texas Tech, while Sperbeck's receiving yardage topped the total of 268 by Tulsa's Keyarris Garrett on Oct. 23 against Memphis.

Through 10 games this season Sperbeck has 69 catches for 1,210 yards and seven touchdowns, leading the Mountain West in the first two categories and sitting just one touchdown reception back of conference leader Rashard Higgins of Colorado State. Sperbeck's 1,210 receiving yards are also just five behind the Boise State season record of 1,215 held by Titus Young (2010), and his 69 catches are 19 back of the season benchmark of 88 set by Matt Miller in 2013.

Saturday's performance was the first 200-yard receiving game of Sperbeck's career, and his eighth of at least 100 yards, leaving him just five behind the record of 13 100-yard receiving games held by Ryan Ikebe (1993-96).
