Athlete of the Week 11/9-15: Austin Pettis
BOISE, Idaho – Austin Pettis had a career day on the Blue to earn this week’s Bronco Athlete of the Week honors. Pettis actually spent a lot of time in the orange end zone as he tied one receiving record and broke another to lead the Boise State football team in a 63-25 victory over Idaho.

Pettis, a junior from Anaheim, Calif., hauled in four touchdown catches over the Vandals to tie the Boise State record for touchdown receptions in a game. His four TDs also gave him 14 touchdowns on the year, breaking the season record set by Mike Holton in 1974. Pettis has tallied 29 TD receptions in his career, which is only one short of the career record set by Don Hutt in 1970-73.

Pettis will have a chance to tie the career record on Friday when the Broncos face Utah State in Logan, Utah on ESPN 2.

Other teams in action this week include a pair of games for the women’s basketball team, who hosts Portland State on Thursday before traveling to Idaho State on Saturday. The men’s basketball team continues its season with a trip to Wyoming. The wrestling team will return to action with a pair of matches against Oregon State and Wisconsin in Corvallis, Ore. The volleyball team will wrap up its regular season with a match at Idaho on Thursday.
