Boise State vs. San Diego State Game Notes
Boise State football returns home with a seven-game win streak and a No. 19 ranking in the Bowl Championship Standings. The Broncos will face Mountain West foe San Diego State for just the second time in school history. Kickoff is slated for 8:30 p.m. (MT) at Bronco Stadium and the game will be nationally-televised by CBS Sports Network.
The Broncos lead the league with a 4-0 mark in Mountain West play, while San Diego State enters the game in a three-way tie for second at 4-1. The Aztecs dropped their conference opener at Fresno State Sept. 29, but have reeled off four-straight victories to climb within a half game of Boise State.
Boise State, meanwhile, is yet to trail a conference opponent and has not been behind in a game for nearly 400 minutes of game time. The Broncos have not trailed since taking a 15-9 lead against Miami (Ohio) with 1:43 remaining in the first half, Sept. 15. They have only trailed two opponents this season, for a combined total of 25:02 on the game clock.
Last season, in the first all-time meeting between Boise State and San Diego State (Nov. 18), the Broncos ran out to a 45-14 lead through three quarters. The Aztecs outscored Boise State 21-7 in the fourth period to close the gap, but the Broncos held on for a 52-35 win at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego. The game Saturday will be San Diego State's first trip to Bronco Stadium.
Boise State finished October 2012 unblemished at 4-0, running the school's win streak during the 10th month of the year to 48-straight games. The last time Boise State lost a game in October was Oct. 6, 2001, in a 45-14 defeat at the hands of Rice. The Broncos are 27-0 under head coach Chris Petersen in the month of October.
