Potter Named Lowe's Senior CLASS Award Finalist
BOISE, Idaho – Boise State redshirt senior offensive tackle Nate Potter was named a finalist for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award Wednesday, which honors student-athletes who excel both on and off the field.

To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must be classified as Football Bowl Subdivision seniors and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

Potter graduated from Boise State in May of 2011 with a 3.70 grade-point average and a bachelor’s degree in history. He is currently pursuing a graduate degree, is a three-time Western Athletic Conference All-Academic selection and was named second-team Academic All-America in 2010.

He is also actively involved in Boise State Athletics’ support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and speaks at local high schools about the “Go On Challenge,” sponsored by the JA & Kathryn Albertson Foundation to encourage more Idaho high school students to go on to post-secondary education and training.

Potter was named a first-team preseason All-American by a number of publications heading into 2011, and is a two-time first-team All-WAC selection.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platforms in athletics to make positive impacts as leaders in their communities.

Finalists were chosen by a media committee from a list of 30 semifinalists announced in August. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to determine the winner. Fans are encouraged to vote on either the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Web site, or at the Lowe’s Senior Class Award Facebook page. Voting will run through Dec. 5, and the fan vote will be combined with media and head coaches’ voting to determine the winner.

The winner of the award will be announced during the 2011 football bowl season.
