BOISE, Idaho - Boise State University punt returner and wide receiver Chris Potter has been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week following the Broncos' 48-0 victory over San Jose State University this past Saturday (Oct. 16).
A sophomore from Westlake Village, Calif. (Oaks Christian HS), Potter returned four punts for 76 yards. The 76 yards is the most by a WAC player in a game this year and his average of 19.0 yards-per-return tied for the third best mark in the league this season. His longest return was 33 yards which led to Boise State touchdown right before the end of the first half.
Potter leads the WAC in punt return average this year at 16.8-yards. He has returned a total of eight punts for 134 yards. He also ranks eighth nationally.
When not returning punts, Potter has caught five passes for 106 yards and one touchdown and also completed one pass for 26 yards out of Boise State's Wildcat formation.
Boise State's next game is not until Oct. 26 (Tuesday) when it plays host to Louisiana Tech in a game to be broadcast nationally on ESPN2.
