MOSCOW, Idaho (Ticker) - First place in the Western Athletic Conference is up for grabs Saturday when No. 18 Boise State visits intrastate rival Idaho.

The Broncos (7-0, 3-0 WAC) and Vandals (4-3, 3-0) share the top spot in the conference standings. San Jose State is the only other team unbeaten in WAC play at 1-0.

Boise State remained undefeated overall this season with a 40-28 triumph at New Mexico State in a rare Sunday night game.
Ian Johnson ran for four first-half touchdowns and finished with 192 yards on the ground for the Broncos.

Once again being coached by Dennis Erickson, who also guided the team from 1982-85, Idaho is coming off a 24-14 victory at Louisiana Tech in which it committed three turnovers but intercepted four passes and recovered four fumbles.

Steve Wichman threw for 238 yards and Max Komar had two catches for 101 yards for the Vandals, who are on their first three-game winning streak since 1999 and already have more wins in any season since then.

Boise State has won the last seven in the rivalry since an overtime loss in 1998. The Broncos beat the Vandals last year, 70-35.
