BOISE, Idaho - Boise State University dropped one spot in both the USA Today Coaches and Associated Press to sixth following the Broncos' 34-16 victory over UC Davis on Saturday (Oct. 3).
The Broncos were passed by Virginia Tech who moved up one spot to fifth after the Hokies defeated Duke 34-26.
Boise State received 1,133 points in the coaches' poll, and 1,185 in the media poll. The Broncos fell in both polls, despite having a higher point total the week before. Entering the UC Davis game, Boise State had 1,144 points in the coaches' poll and 1,203 in the media poll.
Virginia Tech is just eight points ahead of the Broncos in the coaches' poll with 1,141 points, and 15 points ahead in the AP poll.
The top four spots were the same in both polls led by Florida at No. 1, followed by Texas, Alabama and LSU.
Boise State remains the highest ranked non-BCS league team. The next highest is TCU at No. 9 in the coaches' poll and No. 10 in the AP poll.
The Broncos have a 10-day break before its next game on Oct. 14 (Wednesday) at the University of Tulsa. Kickoff for the game to be broadcast by ESPN is 7:00 p.m. (CT).
