McNichols, Wilson Earn Weekly Honors
Oct. 3, 2016

BOISE, Idaho - Boise State had a pair of players honored Monday morning for their performances in Saturday's 21-10 win over Utah State, as junior running back Jeremy McNichols claimed his second-straight Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week award and junior wide receiver Cedrick Wilson was named to the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll.

McNichols becomes the first Boise State player to be named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week in consecutive weeks, and the honor is the third of his career. His back-to-back awards also marks the first time Boise State has captured the offensive honors in consecutive weeks since nabbing three in a row on Oct. 17 (Kellen Moore), Oct. 23 (Doug Martin) and Oct. 30 (Moore), 2011.

The Bronco running back and Doak Walker Award candidate carried 30 times for 132 yards in Saturday night's win, with 100 of those yards coming in the second half. On Boise State's final drive, McNichols carried 10 times for 44 yards as the Broncos burned 6:04 off the clock to diminish Utah State's comeback hopes late. Living up to his nickname, "The Weapon," McNichols was also dangerous in the open field, catching six passes for 73 yards, including a career-long 61-yard scoring reception from Wilson. For McNichols it was his 10th touchdown of the season, tied for second among all FBS players and tops in the Mountain West.

McNichols has now caught touchdowns passes this season from three different players: Wilson, quarterback Brett Rypien and wide receiver Thomas Sperbeck (Sept. 3 at Louisiana).

Wilson became the second Bronco to be named to the Hornung Award Honor Roll in 2016, following Sperbeck (Sept. 5). Saturday night, Wilson provided touchdowns in two ways, first showing off his skills as a former prep quarterback by hitting McNichols for a 61-yard touchdown then demonstrating some good hand and footwork by tight-roping the end zone sideline on a 36-yard touchdown catch from Rypien. WIlson finished the game with two catches for 46 yards, and on the season has made 14 catches for 265 yards (18.9 ypc) and two touchdowns.

Wilson was joined on this week's Honor Roll by running backs Alvin Kamara (Tennessee), TJ Logan (North Carolina) and Joe Mixon (Oklahoma).

No. 19/19 Boise State returns to action Friday at New Mexico. Kickoff in Albuquerque is set for 7 p.m. MT and the game will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
