BOISE, Idaho Korey Hall’s two interceptions and eight tackles in Boise State University’s 36-3 win at the University of Utah this past Saturday (Sept. 30), has earned the Bronco linebacker this week’s WAC Defensive Player of the Week award.
A senior from Glenns Ferry, Idaho (Glenns Ferry HS), Hall returned his two interceptions for 41 yards. His first interception came on Utah’s opening drive and set up a Bronco field goal. The second pick was in the third quarter with Hall returning the interception to Utah’s four yard line, which set up a Bronco touchdown to make the score 33-3 at the time.
Three of Hall’s tackles were unassisted, and he also broke up one pass as the Bronco defense held Utah to just 178 yards of total offense and a pass efficiency rating of 15.87.
Hall’s performance at Utah marks the fifth straight week Boise State has had a player received a WAC Player of the Week award.
Colt Brooks (defense) and Kyle Stringer (special teams) earned the honor following Boise State’s 45-0 win over Sacramento State. Ian Johnson (offense) and Quinton Jones (special teams) were named player of the week following the Broncos’ 42-14 win over Oregon State, Jones (defense) and Stringer (special teams) picked up their second awards of the season in Boise State’s 17-10 win at Wyoming and Johnson (offense) won his second player of the week award for the year following the Broncos 41-34 WAC win against Hawai’i.
The Broncos are back to league action this Saturday (Oct. 7) when they host Louisiana Tech University in a 6:05 p.m. kickoff at Bronco Stadium.
