Boise State University running back Ian Johnson has been the Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week following his performance in the Broncos' 38-16 win over the University of Southern Mississippi this past Thursday (Sept. 27).

Johnson, a junior from San Dimas, Calif. (Damien HS), rushed for 111 yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries.  He also caught three passes for a career-high 80 yards to finish the game with 191 all-purpose yards.  One of his receptions went for a career-long 54 yards helping to set up his third touchdown run to give Boise State a 35-16 lead right after Southern Mississippi had scored a touchdown early in the third quarter.

This is the second time this year a Bronco player has received one of the WAC's weekly awards.  Rashaun Scott was named the league's special teams player of the week following Boise State's win over the University of Wyoming.

Boise State opens defensive of its five straight WAC titles this Sunday (Oct. 7) when it plays host to New Mexico State University.  Kickoff is 6:00 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN.
