Broncos In The NFL: Week 2

BOISE, Idaho - Week 2 of the NFL campaign wrapped up Monday night, with Jay Ajayi and Demarcus Lawrence being a pair of Boise State alumni who shined in action.

Entering Week 2 there were 22 former Broncos under contract with NFL clubs, with 13 on active 53-man rosters. Running back Doug Martin (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) was placed on Tampa Bay's reserve/suspended list and will miss the first three games of this season as he serves the remainder of his four-game suspension from the league. Linebacker Shea McClellin (New England Patriots), safeties Chanceller James (San Francisco 49ers) and Jeron Johnson (Jacksonville Jaguars), and defensive tackle Billy Winn (Denver Broncos) will spend the season on injured reserve after suffering season-ending injuries during the preseason, while four more Broncos, offensive lineman Travis Averill (Cleveland Browns), cornerback Donte Deayon (New York Giants), running back Jeremy McNichols (San Francisco 49ers), and cornerback Jonathan Moxey (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), opened the year on the practice squads of their respective teams.

Jay Ajayi and the Dolphins played their first game of the season this past Sunday, after last week's scheduled opener was postponed due to Hurricane Irma. Ajayi showed his 2016 Pro Bowl form, rushing for 122 yards.

Jay Ajayi, RB (Miami Dolphins)
Ajayi opened his 2017 campaign with 122 rushing yards on 28 attempts, and caught two passes for four yards in Miami's 19-17 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers.

Kamalei Correa, OLB (Baltimore Ravens)
Correa started at linebacker in Baltimore's 24-10 win over Cleveland, assisting on a tackle.

Tyrone Crawford, DE (Dallas Cowboys)
Crawford saw action in Dallas' 42-17 loss at Denver, assisting on a tackle.

George Iloka, S (Cincinnati Bengals)
Iloka started at free safety Sunday, making six tackles (four solo) including two for loss, in Cincinnati's 13-9 loss to Houston.

DeMarcus Lawrence, DE (Dallas Cowboys)
Lawrence started at defensive end in Dallas' 42-17 loss at Denver Sunday, making seven tackles (five solo) and posting a pair of sacks, one of which included a forced fumble that led to the Cowboys' opening touchdown.

Charles Leno, Jr., OT (Chicago Bears)
Leno started at left tackle in Chicago's 29-7 loss to Tampa Bay on Sunday.

Kellen Moore, QB (Dallas Cowboys)
Moore served as Dallas' backup quarterback in Sunday's 42-17 loss at Denver, but did not see action.

Rees Odhiambo, G (Seattle Seahawks)
Odhiambo started at left tackle for the Seahawks in their 12-9 victory over San Francisco.

Matt Paradis - C - Denver Broncos
Paradis started at center in Denver's 42-17 victory over Dallas.

Orlando Scandrick, CB (Dallas Cowboys)
Scandrick missed Sunday's 42-17 loss at Denver with injury.

Jamar Taylor, S (Cleveland Browns)
Taylor started at cornerback Sunday and co--led the Browns with nine tackle (eight solo), including two for loss, in the Browns' 24-10 loss to Baltimore.

Darian Thompson, S (New York Giants)
Thompson started at free safety for the Giants in their 24-10 loss to Detroit Monday night, making five solo tackles and breaking up a pass.

Tanner Vallejo, LB (Buffalo Bills)
Vallejo, a sixth-round draft pick by Buffalo in 2017, made his NFL debut Sunday in Buffalo's 9-3 loss to Carolina.
