MVP: More Vinny Perretta

As a multi-dimensional player for Boise State, Vinny Perretta has as good an understanding of the Bronco offense as anyone. Receiver, runner, returner and thrower, Perretta did just about everything from 2005-2008. Now he lends his insight as an MVP, as in More Vinny Perretta, for BroncoSports.com.

SPEED KILLS

The Boise State offense showed once again Friday night against Fresno State why they are considered one of the most explosive units in the country.

Big plays all night long by the 10th ranked Broncos proved too much for the Bulldogs.  Whenever Fresno State threatened, the Boise State offense responded with key explosive, long plays.

Running backs Jeremy Avery and D.J. Harper were the difference makers, combining for 383 total yards, two touchdowns and four plays of 60 yards or more (are you kidding me!). They made big play after big play, each using their own style, and establishing themselves as one of the most lethal running back duos in college football.  The offensive line did a great job of opening holes up front and the speedy backs took care of the rest.  Add in finger tip catches from Austin Pettis, the speed and agility of Titus Young and Doug Martin on kickoff returns, and great game management as always by Kellen "the Kid" Moore, the Broncos no question are loaded with explosive, young talent.

Offensive Coordinator Bryan Harsin and the rest of the Boise State offensive coaches preach and demand explosive plays.  Last night, their demands were met in impressive fashion. Talking from experience, I don't think I have ever seen that many explosive, long plays in one game during my time at Boise State.  I believe Fresno is one of the toughest places I have ever played at.  Getting out of there with a "W" on national television is huge, and adds another piece to the puzzle.  If the Bronco offense continues to play the way it did against Fresno State, with big plays and little turnovers, it will be another exciting and successful season.

For my final M.V.P. shout, huge credit to strength and conditioning coaches, Coach Socha and Coach Russell, for making the players that much more explosive through their rigourous workouts.  The benefits were obvious last night as the Broncos proved to be the fastest, most explosive team on the field.

Congrats on the big win guys! As always, Go Broncos!
