Broncos In The NFL: Week 1

BOISE, Idaho - Week 1 of the 2015 NFL season is in the books, and Boise State’s alumni in the league featured in multiple victories.

Matt Paradis made his first NFL start as the center for the Denver Broncos, while Jamar Taylor and George Iloka featured in the secondaries of the Miami Dolphins and Cincinnati Bengals in their respective wins. DeMarcus Lawrence and Tyrone Crawford were also on the field for the Dallas Cowboys’ dramatic win over the New York Giants on Sunday Night Football.

Here’s a breakdown of how the Bronco alumni fared in Week 1:

RB Jay Ajayi – Miami Dolphins
Ajayi was put on the IR-designated to return list after suffering a rib injury in Miami’s final preseason game. He will be eligible to return after Week 6. The Dolphins, meanwhile, defeated Washington, 17-10 Sunday.

TE/FB Richie Brockel – Carolina Panthers
Brockel, who battled back from an injury that prematurely ended his 2014 campaign, returned to action in the preseason but was inactive for Sunday’s 20-9 Panther win at Jacksonville.

OT Ryan Clady – Denver Broncos
Clady is out for the 2015 season after suffering a torn ACL during OTAs in May. Denver defeated Baltimore, 19-13, Sunday.

DT Tyrone Crawford – Dallas Cowboys
Crawford had his first sack of the season among his three tackles in Dallas’ last-second 27-26 victory over the New York Giants.

S George Iloka – Cincinnati Bengals
Iloka started Sunday’s 33-13 win at Oakland, making a tackle and assisting on another.

S Jeron Johnson - Washington
Johnson did not register a stat in Washington’s 17-10 loss to Miami Sunday.

DE DeMarcus Lawrence – Dallas Cowboys
Lawrence saw action for the Cowboys alongside fellow Bronco Tyrone Crawford in Sunday’s 27-26 win over the New York Giants. Lawrence assisted on three tackles in the victory.

OT Charles Leno – Chicago Bears
Leno saw action as a reserve lineman in Chicago’s 31-23 loss to Green Bay Sunday.

RB Doug Martin – Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Martin got the start for Tampa Bay Suinday, rushing for 52 yards on 11 carries and catching a two-yard pass in the Bucs’ 42-14 loss at Tennessee.

LB Shea McClellin – Chicago Bears
McClellin started at linebacker for the Bears Sunday, leading them in tackles with eight (four solo) in the 31-23 loss to Green Bay.

QB Kellen Moore – Dallas Cowboys
Moore is on the Dallas practice squad and was inactive for Sunday’s 27-26 win over the New York Giants.

C Matt Paradis – Denver Broncos
Paradis, who spent 2014 on the Broncos’ practice squad, made his first NFL start Sunday. The Broncos defeated Baltimore, 19-13, at home.

FB Blake Renaud – Minnesota Vikings
Renaud is on the Vikings’ practice squad and was inactive for Monday night’s 20-3 loss at San Francisco.

CB Orlando Scandrick – Dallas Cowboys
Scandrick was placed on injured reserve last month and will miss the 2015 season after suffering a torn ACL during a preseason practice.

S Jamar Taylor – Miami Dolphins
Taylor saw action in Miami’s 17-10 win at Washington Sunday, making six tackles (three solo).

CB Kyle Wilson – New Orleans Saints
Wilson made his debut for the Saints, the team with which he signed as a free agent during the offseason, but did not register a stat in the 31-19 loss to Arizona.

DT Billy Winn – Indianapolis Colts
Winn was traded from Cleveland to Indianapolis Friday for a conditional draft pick in 2017. He did not play in Sunday’s 27-14 loss at Buffalo.
