Bronco fans took notice of another impressive defensive effort in last Saturday's 48-0 win over Miami (Ohio), singling out not one individual but selecting the entire defensive unit as the Carl's Jr. Player, or in this case, Players of the Game.
Boise State's "D" held the Redhawks scoreless, while holding a second straight opponent to less than 200 yards of total offense. Miami managed just 38 yards rushing and were unable to strike on any kind of big play due to the swarming Bronco defense.
The Broncos picked off Miami quarterback's four times, including George Iloka's first half deflection and interception deep in Redhawk territory that set up the offense for a 14-0 lead. Jeron Johnson, Tommy Smith and Aaron Tevis added second half interceptions. Senior captain Kyle Wilson led the Broncos with seven tackles in the game, while linebackers Daron Mackey, Derrell Acrey and J.C. Percy and defensive linemen Billy Winn and Byron Hout each found gaps into the Redhawk backfield for tackles for loss.
Bronco fans will have the opportunity to select the Carl's Jr. Player of the Game each week through voting on BroncoSports.com, Twitter.com/broncosports and Facebook.com/broncosports.
