BOISE, Idaho - Boise State quarterback Kellen Moore received his first national honor of the season, Wednesday (Sept. 8), by being named The O'Brien Quarterback of the Week for his efforts the Broncos season opening win over No. 10 Virginia Tech. Boise State managed to hold off the Hokies for a dramatic 33-30 win on Monday (Sept. 6) night in Landover, M.D.

Moore, a junior from Prosser, Wash. (Prosser HS), completed 23-of-38 passes for 215 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in the week-one victory. His presence was felt the most when it mattered, however, as Moore led the Broncos down field late in the fourth quarter to score the game winning touchdown. Moore connected with Austin Pettis on a 13-yard touchdown pass with 1:09 left to play to give Boise State the go-ahead score.

The O'Brien Quarterback of the Week Award is voted on during each of the first eight weeks of the season by a subset of The O'Brien National Selection Committee. The Selection Committee is also involved in picking a winner for the 2010 Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award.
