Billy Winn This Weeks Carl's Jr. Player of the Game
Sophomore defensive tackle Billy Winn was a one man wrecking crew in Boise State's 19-8 season opening win over Oregon. Winn, based on Bronco fans texting in their votes, was selected as the Carl's Jr. Player of the Game from last Thursday.
Winn made four tackles, and consistently disrupted the Duck offense and was a key cog in a defensive unit that held Oregon to just 31 yards rushing and without a first down until midway through the third quarter.
Winn's biggest play of the night came in the second quarter, when he grabbed Duck running back LeGarrette Blount in his own end zone for a four yard loss. The safety pushed the Bronco lead to 10-0. Winn also collected a big quarterback pressure in the third quarter, hitting quarterback Jeremiah Massoli from behind as he was throwing. The errant pass caused by the pressure resulted in a Bronco interception by linebacker Aaron Tevis.
