Sept. 8, 2014

BOISE, Idaho - Redshirt junior running back Jay Ajayi was named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday morning.

Ajayi earned his first-career conference weekly honor after racking up 280 all-purpose yards, including 219 on the ground, and three touchdowns in Boise State's 37-24 victory over Colorado State Saturday night. The Plano, Texas native came up just three rushing yards shy of his career high (222) and carried the ball a personal-best 33 times against the Rams for a pair of touchdowns while also catching four passes for 61 yards and another score.

Through the first two weeks of the season Ajayi ranks in the national top 10 in all-purpose yardage (229.5 yards per game - third), rushing (305 yards - sixth), and rushing yards per game (152.5 ypg, 10th).

Boise State (1-1, 1-0 MW) makes its second cross-country trip this week, taking on Connecticut at 10 a.m. MT in East Hartford. The game will be aired locally on ABC and on ESPN2 outside of the Boise regional market.
