Broncos Remain No. 3 in AP Poll; Receive Eight First-Place Votes

BOISE, Idaho - Week one of the Associated Press Top-25 Poll was released, Tuesday (Sept. 7) morning, which featured Boise State locked steady at No. 3 following a dramatic 33-30 win over No. 10 Virginia Tech on Monday (Sept. 6) night.

The Broncos, who opened the fall ranked No. 3 in the AP preseason poll, received eight first-place votes this week after their impressive week-one performance. Boise State, which earned seven more first-place votes than in the preseason poll, received the second most No. 1 votes this week. The Broncos 1,399 total points trail only Alabama and Ohio State.

Alabama remained at No. 1 this week following a 48-3 win over Western Athletic Conference member San Jose State. The Tide received 47 first-place votes and 1,484 points. Ohio State, which remained at No. 2, received four first-place votes with 1,412 points.

Rounding out the top-five in this week's poll are TCU and Texas. TCU jumped two spots to No. 4, while Texas stayed put at No. 5.

Virginia Tech fell three spots to No. 13 follow Monday night's loss to Boise State.

The Broncos have this weekend off before traveling to the University of Wyoming on Sept. 18 (Saturday) for a 6:00 p.m. kickoff.
