BOISE, Idaho - The competition was fierce during practice, but it appeared that freshman Aaron Tevis rose above the rest as head coach Chris Petersen named the linebacker Player of the Day, Tuesday.

“He’s flying around,” Petersen said. “He’s a young guy and is doing an awesome job. He’ll be a big factor for us this fall and we’re excited he’s going to be in the mix.”

The freshman from Tucson, Ariz., is no stranger to the Broncos as he redshirted last season, but still managed to earn the Ultimate Work Horse Award. While attending Canyon Del Oro High School, he was a three-sport letterman, lettering in football and basketball three times and track and field twice. During his senior season, he was named to the 2006 All-Southern Arizona football team as a tight end and linebacker.
