BOISE, Idaho - While the veteran players usually standout on the blue, it was Chase Baker who became the first freshman as head coach Chris Petersen named him Player of the Day, Monday.
“He’s a freshman defensive lineman whose been doing a good job working his tail off,” said Petersen. “He’s got a broken finger, he doesn’t miss a beat, plays very tough and is getting better every day.”
The freshman defensive tackle signed a national letter of intent with Boise State in February 2007, but grayshirted and joined the team in January of 2008 to participate in spring ball. The Rocklin, Calif., native was a three-sport letterman at Rocklin High School, where he lettered in football three times, rugby twice and track and field once.
