Broncos Give Fans A Show Friday Night
Aug. 15, 2014

BOISE, Idaho - Fans got their first chance to see the 2014 Boise State football team at Friday night's public scrimmage, and the Broncos did not disappoint.

Quarterback Grant Hedrick led the offense going 13-for-19 for 143 yards, while No. 2 signal caller Ryan Finley went 8-for-16 for 87 yards and a touchdown.

Redshirt junior wide receiver Terrell Johnson wowed the crowd with the play of the night, hauling in a Finley pass and outracing the secondary for a 62-yard score. Johnson finished the night with a team-high 84 receiving yards on four catches, while redshirt junior Troy Ware had a team-high five catches.

The Bronco defense enjoyed some standout play as well, as the unit made a total of seven sacks, of which five came from linemen. Safeties Jeremy Ioane and Chanceller James each accounted for a sack, while Darian Thompson nabbed the only interception of the night.

The Broncos focused largely on situational drives Friday night. Hedrick, Finley and Thomas Stuart worked on red-zone drives, drives starting at their own two-yard line and 30-yard lines, simulating the start of possession after a kickoff return. The offense posted five rushing touchdowns, two coming from Devan Demas, as the team also practiced goal-line possessions.
