BOISE, Idaho - The intensity of fall camp is sky high as Boise State prepares for the second scrimmage of fall camp, but no Bronco stood out like Austin Pettis as head coach Chris Petersen named the sophomore his pick for Player of the Day, Friday.
“He’s practicing hard and making a lot of catches,” said Petersen. “We’re kind of in the middle of dog-days here and he’s still powering through it and making a lot of plays for us.”
The wide receiver hailing from Anaheim, Calif., enters his sophomore season as being just one of five true freshmen to play for the Broncos last season. Letting his presence be known during his freshmen campaign, he finished the season second on the team with 46 receptions and six touchdown catches, in addition to finishing third with 465 yards receiving. Even more impressive was that he recorded 34 of his catches during the last five games.
