BOISE, Idaho Kyle Brotzman, a freshman from Meridian, Idaho (Meridian HS), was Boise State University’s head coach Chris Petersen’s pick on Saturday (Aug. 14) as the team’s player of the day.
"He’s doing a heck of a job competing," Petersen said following the team’s second practice of the day on Saturay. "He’s getting better every day and he may make our field goal competition a little bit tighter than people thought."
Brotzman walked on the Bronco team this past spring. He lettered in three sports (football, basketball and soccer) at Meridian High School and twice earned second team all-league honors. As a senior he made 32 extra points and six field goals, including one from 52 yards.
Brotzman’s high school coach was Mike Virden, who played quarterback for Boise State in 1989 and 1990.
