BOISE, Idaho - Junior tight end Richie Brockel’s versatility at tight end and fullback has earned him a major role in the Boise State offense. On Sunday, that utility work earned Brockel (6-2, 248) Head Coach Chris Petersen’s Camper of the Day on day seven of the Bronco fall camp.

“Richie is one of our sharper guys,” Petersen said. “He knows the offense inside and out. He brings a great energy to our team.”

Brockel saw playing time in all 13 games in each of his first two seasons at BSU. Last year he caught 12 passes for 104 yards and four touchdowns. He also played an integral part as a blocker in the Broncos’ running game that amassed 2,404 rushing yards in 2007.
