Day Five of Fall Camp also brought the team together for their first full team practice of the fall.  After spending four days separated in practices, the newcomers and veterans took the field together on Sunday morning at East Junior High.  It was also the first practice in full pads, which definitely changed the focus and tempo of the practice.  The defense had an upper hand in Sunday’s practice, including noteworthy play by linebacker Derrell Acrey and cornerback Kyle Wilson.  The Broncos return to the practice field Monday morning in full pads.

Sunday was a one practice day, followed by meetings in the afternoon.  Early evening was the Bronco Olympics.  The Bronco Olympics are an internal competition where the players and coaches are separated into different teams and compete throughout fall camp in mental and physical challenges.  Sunday’s competition was more on the mental side with a Name Game theme.

The first scrimmage of Fall Camp will take place this Thursday afternoon (August 13th) and will be open to the public to attend.  The scrimmage will start at approximately 3:30 p.m. at Bronco Stadium, and be based on a play count and also different game situations.  Fall scrimmages will be based on offensive units versus defensive units (ie - #1 offense vs. #2 defense or 3’s vs. 3’s, etc).  It is one of two scrimmages during fall camp that will be open to the public to attend.  The other one is set for Friday, August 21st at 7:30 p.m. at Bronco Stadium.

On Friday, two different Bronco players were placed in select company on national pre-season “watch lists”.  Senior cornerback Kyle Wilson is on the Jim Thorpe Award Watch List for top collegiate defensive back.  Wilson is one of 31 candidates on the watch list.  He has already received recognition on the 2009 Playboy magazine preseason All-America team and was selected by media members as the 2009 WAC preseason defensive player of the year.  Sophomore quarterback Kellen Moore was named to two preseason watch lists last week.  He is one 30 players on the Walter Camp Football Foundation 2009 Player of the Year Watch List, while also finding a spot on the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback of the Year Watch List.

Boise State’s 2009 team entrance video is in production currently.  Along with creative development partner DTX Creative, the Broncos shot hours of footage the last week of July with a number of key players.  Sneak peak updates will be available by clicking here.  This year’s team entrance video is based on seven different Bronco standout players taking fans on a journey of their “football field alter-ego or personalities”, much like a super-hero video trailer.  Personalities that include descriptions like ‘Force’, ‘Precision’ and ‘Relentless’.  We’ll let you keep guessing as to which players match up to which personality traits.
