BOISE, Idaho - For each day of Fall Camp, Bronco football Head Coach Chris Petersen is going to select one player who had an outstanding practice and reward him as “Coach Pete’s Player of the Day.” Tuesday’s Player of the Day is senior offensive lineman Tony Volponi.

Volponi, a 6’4, 315-pound native of Olympia, Wash., has served as a backup for each of the past three seasons. However, his versatility and dedication to getting better has impressed the coaching staff.

“Tony’s operated as a backup lineman for the last three years, but he isn’t playing like one,” Petersen said. “He’s really doing a nice job. We’re definitely going to get him in the mix this fall. He gives us a lot of flexibility, being able to move from tackle to guard and even some tight end if we need him to.”
