BOISE, Idaho The Boise State University Broncos returned to the friendly confines of Broncos Stadium on the fifth day of 2007 Fall Camp, combining both newcomers and veterans for the first time. Even with over 100 players on the field, one player stood out, senior Nick Schlekeway. For his outstanding performance and effort throughout practice coach Chris Petersen selected Schlekeway as his Camper of the Day.
“Schlekeway is one of our top leaders,” coach Petersen said. “He leads by example everyday. He shows up ready to go to work and is extremely intense. If the rest of the guys can become as intense as he is, we are going to win a lot of games.”
Schlekeway, a 6’4”, 256 lbs., senior defensive end from Eagle, Idaho, started all 13 games during the 2006 season. He finished eighth on the team with 45 tackles and ninth in the Western Athletic Conference in fumble recoveries per game (0.17). He also recorded 4.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, one pass break up and two fumble recoveries.
