Broncos place nine players on Preseason All-WAC teams; Six on first team

BOISE, Idaho Boise State placed nine total players on the Preseason All-WAC teams, including a league-high six on the first team.  The Broncos also placed a league-high seven players on the websites list of the 30 top players in the WAC.

Three Boise State offensive linemen on the first-team offense highlighted the team for the Broncos.  All-America candidate Ryan Clady anchored the line along with four-year starters Jeff Cavender and Tad Miller.

Clady, a junior, has been named the PLAYBOY All-America Football Team, as well as being named preseason first-team All-America by the Sporting News and second-team All-America by  He was also named to the Rotary Lombardi Award and Outland Trophy watch lists.  Miller and Cavender have started all 37 games of their careers.  Clady was named the third-best player in the WAC by the website, while Cavender was 22nd and Miller was 29th.

Running back Ian Johnson joins the three offensive linemen on the first team.  Johnson, a junior, led the nation in touchdowns last season with 25 and is the country’s leading returning rusher.  He was a third-team preseason All-America pick by  Johnson was named the second-best player in the WAC by the website.

Defensively, senior Marty Tadman and junior Orlando Scandrick were named to the first-team.  Tadman, who the website ranked as the eighth-best player in the WAC, heads into season as the national leader in career interceptions with 12, interception returns for touchdowns with three and is second in career interception return yards with 269.  He was also named first-team All-WAC as the punt returner.  Scandrick, a three-year starter was named the 19th-best player in the WAC by the website. 

The Broncos placed three players on the second team.  Offensive lineman Andrew Woodruff, defensive lineman Mike T. Williams and cornerback Kyle Wilson earned spots on the team.  Wilson was named the 21st-best player in the WAC by the website.
