BOISE, Idaho - Boise State defensive end Demarcus Lawrence and offensive tackle Charles Leno, Jr. were each named to the 2013 Rotary Lombardi Award Watch List, awarded annually to the nation's top lineman or linebacker.
Boise State was one of 26 schools to place multiple individuals on the list, which includes more than 100 student-athletes.
Last week Leno was named to the Outland Trophy Watch List, awarded annually to the nation's best interior lineman, and Lawrence was named to the Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List, awarded annually to the nation's most outstanding defensive player.
Lawrence was named first-team All-MW in 2012. He led the league in sacks (9.5), and tied for 18th-nationally in the statistical category. He also tied for first in the MW in tackles-for-loss (13.5) and ranked tied for eighth-nationally in forced fumbles (four).
Leno was named second-team All-MW in 2012 after starting each of the team's 13 games at left tackle, and was a member of an offensive line unit that ranked sixth-nationally in sacks allowed (0.77 per game). His streak of 26-consecutive starts is the longest on the Boise State football team.
The Rotary Club of Houston will announce a list of semifinalists on Nov. 7, and finalists will be announced Nov. 21. The award will be presented in Houston, Dec. 11.
