BOISE, Idaho – Boise State running back Jeremy McNichols was added to his second watch list of 2016 Thursday. McNichols was included on the list for the Doak Walker Award, given annually to the top running back in the country.

He was previously named to the watch list of the Maxwell Award on July 5.

McNichols, entering his junior season in 2016, burst onto the national scene in 2015, his first season as the Broncos’ featured back. The Long Beach, Calif., native started 12 games and led the Mountain West in scoring (156 points), touchdowns (26) and rushing touchdowns (20), ranking tied for second in the nation in the first two categories and tied for sixth in the latter.

McNichols rushed for 1,337 yards (fourth in the Mountain West) and led all conference backs with 51 receptions (ninth overall in the conference) that went for 460 yards and six touchdowns. He ranked second in the Mountain West with 1,886 all-purpose yards and was selected to the All-Mountain West Second Team.

He posted seven 100-yard rushing performances in 2015, and established the Mountain West record with his 10th-consecutive game with a rushing touchdown Nov. 20 against Air Force. With a rushing touchdown in all 12 games in 2015, McNichols enters the 2016 season with his record still active.

This preseason, six Broncos have been named to a total of nine watch lists ahead of the 2016 campaign.
