Eight Broncos Named Preseason All-Conference

BOISE, Idaho – The Boise State football team placed eight student-athletes on Blue Ribbon’s Preseason All-Mountain West Conference Teams, the magazine announced Thursday.

The eight preseason selections were the most in the conference.

Four Broncos were named preseason all-conference on offense, including redshirt senior quarterback Kellen Moore, who was also named Preseason Offensive Player of the Year.

Also included on the offensive list for Boise State were redshirt senior offensive linemen Thomas Byrd and Nate Potter, and redshirt senior running back Doug Martin.

Defensively, senior Shea McClellin and redshirt senior Billy Winn earned Preseason All-MWC honors along the defensive line, and senior George Iloka earned the nod at safety.

Chris Potter, a redshirt junior wide receiver, was named the Preseason All-MWC punt returner.

Boise State is slated to open the 2011 season against Georgia in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game, Sept. 3. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. (MT) at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Ga., and the game will be televised by ESPN.
