Boise State Picked No. 12 in Athlon Sports Preseason Top-25 Poll

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Athlon Sports, publisher of the No. 1-selling college football magazine, continues the release of its preseason Top-25 poll at www.athlonsports.com. The countdown continues for the next 11 weekdays leading to the on-sale date of Athlon's category-leading preseason annuals.

Chris Petersen's Boise State Broncos grab the No. 12 position with 10 players selected as All-WAC performers. Athlon Sports predicts Boise State will win the Western Athletic Conference.

"Boise State has some holes to fill, but the return of quarterback Kellen Moore and three starters on the offensive line gives us every reason to believe the offense will be explosive once again," says Athlon Sports managing editor Mitch Light. "The most underrated part of this program has been its defense; last year, the Broncos only gave up more than 17 points twice. If the defense can approach that level once again, Boise State should be in the hunt for another BCS bowl."

Athlon Sports named Kyle Wilson Third-Team All-America as a cornerback and First-Team All-WAC as both a cornerback and punt returner.

Wide receiver Austin Pettis, tight end Kyle Efaw, defensive lineman Ryan Winterswyk, safety Jeron Johnson and kicker Kyle Brotzman are named First-Team All-WAC.


Quarterback Kellen Moore, running back Jeremy Avery, center Thomas Byrd and cornerback Brandyn Thompson are named Second-Team All-WAC.
