Spring Game Provides Fireworks

BOISE, Idaho - Boise State fans were treated to plenty of offensive fireworks at Saturday's Spring Game at Albertsons Stadium, as Bronco quarterbacks combined to throw for 439 yards and five touchdowns.

Team "Boise State," consisting of the No. 1 offense going against the No. 2 defense, defeated Team "Broncos," the No. 2 offense up against the No. 1 defense, by a score of 42-7 in the scrimmage.

Rising senior Brett Rypien led the offense to four touchdowns, completing 15-of-19 passes for 267 yards and three scores, while Chase Cord went 7-for-10 for 67 yards and a touchdown, and Brandon Bea threw a 69-yard scoring strike to CT Thomas on his only attempt of the day.

Rising sophomore wide receiver Octavius Evans led all Broncos with five catches for 124 yards and two touchdowns, while rising redshirt senior A.J. Richardson also topped the century mark, finishing with four catches for 117 yards and two scores. Thomas finished with four catches for 89 yards and a touchdown.

The Bronco defense was sharp, with rising senior Tyler Horton picking off a pass, while both defenses held against the run, allowing just 112 yards on 28 attempts. One of those attempts was from Cord, who kept it himself and went 67 yards for a score.

Boise State will open the 2018 regular season Sept. 1 at Troy. Season tickets for the 2018 home slate, which includes games against San Diego State (tentative Oct. 6), BYU (tentative Nov. 3), and Fresno State (tentative Nov. 10), are available at BroncoSports.com/tickets.
