BOISE, Idaho -- The annual Beat Coach Pete Scholarship Run/Walk is scheduled for this Saturday morning (April 9) on the Boise State campus. This year marks the fourth year of the event, with nearly $60,000 raised for the General Scholarship Fund at Boise State since the race inception in 2008.
Race participants have the unique opportunity to not only try and beat Boise State head football coach Chris Petersen in the 5K race, but following the run, also can meet Bronco football players in an exclusive post-race autograph event at the Caven-Williams Sports Complex next to Bronco Stadium. This Saturday's meet and greet will serve as the only public autograph event for the Bronco football team. The autograph session will follow the race awards ceremony and is open to race participants and family.
The Beat Coach Pete race starts at 9:30 a.m. in front of the Campus Recreation Center at Boise State. The 3.1 mile course ends inside Bronco Stadium, with Coach Pete donating $5 for each racer who crosses the finish line ahead of him.
Registration is still open for those wanting to run or walk, with race participants receiving a t-shirt and access to the team autograph/meet and greet session. On-line registration can be done at rec.boisestate.edu/beatpete or by calling 426-1131.
