Bronco defense stifles offense in second scrimmage of spring

Meridian, Idaho The Boise State defense clamped down on the Broncos’ offense Friday in the second scrimmage of spring practice. The Bronco “D” limited the offense to just 41 yards rushing on 28 carries (1.5 yards per carry) and just 309 total yards.

The Bronco offense scored on the last possession of the scrimmage. Freshman Matt Kaiserman capped off a drive led by senior Bush Hamdan with a 5-yard touchdown run. Kaiserman finished with 15 yards on three carries. Senior Ian Johnson led the Broncos on the ground gaining 18 yards on three carries, while sophomore D.J. Harper rushed for 16 yards on three carries.

Hamdan led the Bronco quarterbacks completing 7-of-12 passes for 113 yards and a quarterback rating of 152.13. Junior Nick Lomax was 6-of-8 for 52 yards and a QB rating of 129.60. Sophomore Michael Coughlin was 4-of-9 for 51 yards and freshman Kellen Moore finished 5-of-12 for 52 yards.

Senior Julian Hawkins led Boise State with four catches for 40 yards, while senior Toshi Franklin had 63 yards receiving on three receptions.
