BOISE, Idaho Boise State University has announced a tentative schedule of its 2009 non-conference football games, which includes several changes to its current non-conference schedule.
The Broncos are still set to open the 2009 season at home against the University of Oregon, but the game is tentatively set to move from Sept. 5 (Saturday) to Sept. 3 (Thursday).
Boise State’s home game against Miami (Ohio) University, which had been scheduled for Sept. 26 (Saturday), has been moved to Sept. 12 (Saturday).
A road trip to a Mid-American Conference school remains on the Bronco schedule, but to a different school than previously announced. Instead of Boise State traveling to the University of Toledo, the Broncos will make a trip to Bowling Green State University. The game is set for Sept. 26.
The Broncos are set to host a third non-conference game on Oct. 3 (Saturday) against UC Davis. The UC Davis game was originally scheduled for Sept. 19 (Saturday).
Boise State’s final non-conference game of the 2009 season is tentatively set for Oct. 14 (Wednesday) at University of Tulsa.
“The dates on this schedule are still tentative, but this is what we expect to happen”, Boise State Director of Athletics Gene Bleymaier stated. “ESPN is still in the process of finalizing their television games. It is our hope to make an announcement on our complete 2009 schedule, with WAC (Western Athletic Conference) games, by the first of April.
“While some of our non-conference opponents have announced their schedules for 2009, we are still in the process of finalizing those contracts which is why this slate of games is still tentative.”
Boise State is the defending WAC Champions and has won six of the past seven league titles. The Broncos ended the 2008 season ranked No. 11 in the Associated Press media poll, and No. 13 in the USA Today Coaches poll.
