Five Broncos Named to Preseason All-America Team

                BOISE, Idaho - Led by Nate Potter's selection to the first team, five Boise State University football players have been named to the 2011 Preseason All-America team presented by

                A senior from Boise, Idaho, Potter was a first team selection at offensive tackle.  The 6-foot-6, 300-pound Potter is a two-time (2009 and 2010) first-team All-Western Athletic Conference selection and anchored an offensive line which was second in the nation last year in total offense and scoring.  Boise State averaged 521.31 yards-per-game in 2010, while averaging 45.08 points per game. 

                Quarterback Kellen Moore and defensive lineman Billy Winn were named to the second team.  Moore was one of the most honored quarterbacks in the country last year.  The junior from Prosser, Washington, was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy (4th); a first-team All-American selection by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA), and a finalist for the Maxwell (outstanding player) and Davey O'Brien (top quarterback) awards.  Moore led the nation in passing efficiency last year with a 182.63 rating.

                Winn, a senior from Las Vegas, Nevada, is a two-time (2009 and 2010) second-team All-WAC selection.  Last year he made 28 tackles from his tackle position, including 9.5 tackles for loss and four quarterback sacks.  Winn was part of a Bronco defense which was second in the country last year in points allowed (12.77) and total yards allowed (254.69).

                Two more Broncos also earned third-team preseason All-American honors with end Shea McClellin named to the defense, and center Thomas Byrd to the offense.

                A senior from Caldwell, Idaho, McClellin led the Broncos in quarterback sacks last year with 9.5 and in tackles for loss with 13.5.  He was a first-team All-WAC selection in 2010, and scored two touchdowns - one on an interception return and the other when recovered a fumble in the end zone.

                Byrd, a senior from San Pablo, California, is a three-year starter for the Broncos.  In 2010 he received first-team All-WAC honors.

                The selection of five Broncos to the first, second or third preseason All-America teams were the most by any school in the country. 

                One additional Bronco receive honorable mention recognition.  Senior Doug Martin (Stockton, Calif.) earned the selection after earning first-team All-WAC honors in 2010 while gaining 1,260 yards and scoring 12 touchdowns.

                Boise State opens the 2011 season on September 3 (Saturday) in Atlanta against the University of Georgia in the Chick fil-A Kickoff Classic at the Georgia Dome.  The game will be nationally broadcast by ESPN.
