Jan. 21, 2016

BOISE, Idaho - Newly-minted Bronco football alumni Shane Williams-Rhodes, Mercy Maston and Rondell McNair all participated in the 2016 Tropic Bowl this past Sunday (Jan. 17) in North Miami Beach, Fla.

The game featured seniors from programs all over the country and provided a showcase for them in front of professional scouts from the NFL and CFL. The Tropic Bowl was scouted by 27 NFL teams and 4 CFL teams among a total of 50-plus scouts. The American team was coached by former NFL coach Bill Khayat and the National team was coached by former NFL coach Mike Stock.

All three Bronco alumni played for the National squad, which fell to the American team, 38-14. Williams-Rhodes caught a pair of passes for 18 yards while on defense, McNair recorded a sack and Maston notched a tackle.

Three more Broncos will participate in senior all-star games this month, with cornerback Donte Deayon and center Marcus Henry both in action this Saturday (Jan. 23). Henry will take the field for the West squad at the 91st East-West Shrine Game, set for a 2 p.m. MT kickoff at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla., and televised live on NFL Network. Deayon will play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl at 4 p.m. MT on ESPN2 at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif.
