NEW ORLEANS – Boise State wide receiver Matt Miller was named to the Football Writers Association of America Freshman All-America Team, the organization announced Monday.

Miller, who also garnered Yahoo Sports All-America Second Team honors following his debut campaign, set Boise State freshman records in each of the three major receiving categories in 2011.

A redshirt freshman from Helena, Mont. (Capital HS), Miller caught 62 passes for 679 yards and nine touchdowns. The reception total was tied for the team high, and the yardage and touchdown totals each ranked second on the team.

Boise State’s previous records were held by Austin Pettis, who had 46 catches and six touchdowns in 2007, and Titus Young, who had 639 yards that same season.

The FWAA Freshman All-America Team is selected by an 11-person panel of nationally-prominent writers, led by Mike Griffith of the Knoxville News Sentinel.
