BOISE, Idaho Quarterback Kellen Moore, who helped the Boise State University football team to an overall record of 12-1 this past year, has been named to the Football Writers Association of America’s 2008 freshman All-America team.
A red-shirt freshman from Prosser, Wash., Moore started all 13 games for the Broncos completing 281 of 405 passes for 3,486 yards, 25 touchdowns and an efficiency rating of 157.12. His passing yards ranks No. 2 on the all-time Boise State season list, while his completions and attempts ranked third all-time in a season for the Broncos.
The top rated quarterback in the Western Athletic Conference for 2008, Moore’s completion percentage of .694 is a Boise State single season record breaking the previous high of .683 (28-9-423) set by Taylor Tharp in 2007.
Last month Moore was named to the Sporting News Freshman All-America second team, and was selected by the WAC head coaches as the league’s freshman of the year.
Twice during the season Moore received WAC Offensive Player of the Week honors, and following his performance in the Broncos’ 37-32 win at the University of Oregon he was named the Walter Camp Football Foundation Bowl Subdivision National Offensive Player of the Week.
