The Broncos will be wearing orange pants for the game tonight. The last time they sported them was the 2007 Fiesta Bowl against Oklahoma. The team will also unveil a new line of receiver gloves that have the logo on the inside.
Former Bronco wide receiver Vinny Perretta weighs in on the Game Day in Glendale blog with his keys to the game. Perretta was on the field in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl, while also playing in last year's Poinsettia Bowl against TCU, so brings a unique mix of experience and insight to the table. He is currently on the practice roster with the Minnesota Vikings, who have a bye next week before hosting an NFC Divisional Playoff game.
Vinny's Keys to the Game:
1. 110% on every play
2. Be on a mission for revenge from last year
3. Believe that you will win
4. Dont let the scene be a distraction
Two Bronco alumns who are now in the NFL are expected to be at tonight's game. Wide receiver Legedu Naanee is a member of the San Diego Chargers and will be at the game as the Chargers have a bye for next week's wildcard round of the playoffs. Naanee played a significant role on the 2006 team that went 13-0 and won the Fiesta Bowl. All-Pro tackle Ryan Clady will also be in for the game. Clady and the Denver Broncos were eliminated from playoff contention over the weekend, so he was able to make it to Glendale for the game.
Eight former Broncos are tied in with NFL teams who are in the playoffs. Korey Hall and Daryn Colledge with the Green Bay Packers, Orlando Scandrick with the Dallas Cowboys, Quintin Mikell with the Philadelphia Eagles, Chris Carr with the Baltimore Ravens, Legedu Naanee with the San Diego Chargers, and Ian Johnson and Vinny Perretta who are members of the Minnesota Viking practice roster. Hall, Scandrick, Naanee, Johnson and Perretta all played in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl win over Oklahoma.
Boise State will use five players as on field captains for the 2010 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. Season long captains Richie Brockel and Kyle Wilson, as well as single game captains Ryan Winterswyk, Jeron Johnson and Kellen Moore.
Our keys to the game guest blog comes from former Bronco quarterback Jared Zabransky and wide receiver Jerard Rabb, who teamed up on the famous hook and ladder to tie the 2007 Fiesta Bowl and send the game to overtime.
"Both have great defenses. Battle will be won with the most powerful offense. The key on defense for the Broncos will be to stop the run. Offensively, need to mix in a couple big plays and limit mistakes."
"As with all games, win the turnover margin and probably win the game. Broncos must also capitalize on big play opportunities when presented, especially against a defense like TCU's." -Jared Zabransky
Boise State players are expected to arrive at University of Phoenix Stadium around 3:45 pm. The buses left at roughly 3:00 pm from the Scottsdale Plaza in Scottsdale.
A bit of trivia for you trivia buffs. The 2010 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl is just the 20th bowl game in college football history to pit two undefeated teams against each other. That is a fairly remarkable stat when you consider the thousands of bowl games that have been played.
Check back around 4:30 pm as Game Day in Glendale doles out the Keys to the Game courtesy of some of the Bronco players who took part in the famous 2007 Fiesta Bowl.
