Tommy Smith, a Bronco linebacker from 2008-12, returned to his alma mater prior to the 2014 season and is entering his first year as a defensive graduate assistant with the Boise State football team.

An honorable mention All-Mountain West selection as a senior in 2012, Smith finished his final collegiate campaign as the Broncos' third-leading tackler, registering 61 stops on the season (33 solo).

Smith signed a free agent contract with the Cleveland Browns following his Bronco career.

Originally from Atlanta, Smith joined the Broncos in 2008. He redshirted that season, then went on to serve as a reserve linebacker from 2009-11 before stepping into the starters' role in 2012. He also played fullback in 2011, starting a game at the position.

Smith was a four-year member of the league all-academic team, earning Western Athletic Conference All-Academic honors in 2009 and 2010, and Academic All-MW honors in 2011 and 2012.

He earned his bachelor's degree in social science in 2012.
