Matt Coombs is in his second season as a Defensive Quality Control Assistant, working primarily with the defensive backs and nickels.

Prior to Boise State, Coombs spent four seasons as the defensive coordinator at Bellevue High School after starting as the linebackers coach in 2011. During his time at Bellevue, the school compiled an overall record of 66-3 and won three state championships. Bellevue was named 2012 National Champions by Sports Illustrated and their defense finished ranked No. 1 in the country by USA Today.

Matt graduated from Yale in 2008, where he was a member of the football team. Yale compiled a 17-3 record over his junior and senior seasons, winning an Ivy League Title in 2006. He was Yale's Special Teams Player of the Year in 2007 and was twice named to the Ivy League Honor Roll.

Originally from Bellevue, Wash., Coombs helped Bellevue High to two state championships and was named the Washington State Player of the Year following his senior season.
