Broncos Defeat Rival Vandals at Idaho Center

NAMPA, Idaho (AP) - Anthony Drmic scored a career-high 26 points to lead Boise State to a 76-73 victory over Idaho Saturday, at the Idaho Center.

Drmic made six of Boise State's 10 3-point baskets as the Broncos (10-4) won for just the second time in five games.

Drmic's scoring output was the most by a player from either team in the series since the Broncos' Bryan Defares scored 28 in Moscow, Dec. 14, 2002. It was also the most by a Bronco freshman since Steve Shepherd scored 26 against Montana State, Feb. 26, 1994.

Redshirt senior guard Westly Perryman added a career-high nine assists.

Deremy Geiger scored 17 points and Stephen Madison added 16 for Idaho (7-7), which lost its third consecutive contest.

The Vandals rallied from a 12-point second-half deficit to pull within 74-73 on Landon Tatum's two free throws with 3.9 seconds remaining, but Boise State's Drew Wiley made two free throws with three seconds left and Idaho's Kyle Barone missed a 3-point attempt at the buzzer.

Idaho led 43-41 when Drmic hit his sixth 3-pointer to start a 16-2 surge that gave the Broncos a 57-45 advantage with 13 minutes left.

The contest was played at the Idaho Center in Nampa, 22 miles from the Boise State campus.
