All-Time Series: SMU leads 5-4. All previous meetings came when both schools were members of the Western Athletic Conference.

OLD FOES: Wednesday marks the beginning of a home-and-home series for Boise State and SMU, and the rekindling of a former Western Athletic Conference rivalry. The Broncos and Mustangs were conference foes from 2001-05. The teams met nine times during those years, with SMU holding a 5-4 all-time series lead. Five games were decided by single digits. The teams split four previous games at Taco Bell Arena. Boise State’s last home win against SMU came Jan. 31, 2004, when Aaron Haynes banked in a game-winning floater with 2.1 seconds left to erase a nine-point second-half deficit and lift the Broncos to a 61-59 victory.

AGAINST THE AMERICAN: Since the inception of the American Athletic Conference prior to the 2013-14 season, Boise State has faced one league member. The Broncos played Houston Dec. 22, 2014, on a neutral court at the Las Vegas Invitational. Boise State has faced four AAC members all-time: Cincinnati, Houston, SMU and Tulsa. The last time a member of the AAC played at Taco Bell Arena was SMU Feb. 25, 2005, then a member of the Western Athletic Conference. The only previous time a current AAC school played a nonconference game in Boise was Dec. 30, 1999 (Cincinnati).

NOVEMBER AT TBA: Boise State is 21-0 at Taco Bell Arena in November, during Leon Rice’s seven seasons. The last time the Broncos lost at home in November was Nov. 13, 2007, against No. 9 Washington State, a streak of 28 consecutive wins. Rice is 42-2 overall in nonconference home games.

POSTER GIVEAWAY: Wednesday marks the first of five Ford poster giveaways this season at Boise State men’s basketball games. The first 2,000 fans will receive a collectible player poster.
